A symposium to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Li Jishen's birth was held in Beijing on Nov 6.

Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK), attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He Baoxiang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, chaired the meeting.

Zheng said that Li was a famous patriotic democrat, democratic revolutionist and political activist, a close friend of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and one of the main founders and outstanding leaders of the RCCK.

To commemorate him, the RCCK must adhere to Li's political principles of supporting the CPC's leadership and sticking to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and study his practice of holding high the banner of Sun Yat-sen's patriotic and revolutionary spirits for the unification of the motherland, Zheng said.

Zheng also highlighted that the RCCK and its members should inherit Li's spirit of caring for the whole party and comrades to build the RCCK as a high-quality political party participating in national governance under socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and to contribute their wisdom to the building of a strong China and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Zheng noted that the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee made top-level design and strategic planning for the development in the next five years. The RCCK should focus on the central tasks of the Party and the State on the new journey, and effectively implement the tasks and strategies set forth in the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), he said. In this way, the RCCK can contribute its strength to the decisive progress in basically realizing socialist modernization, according to him.

Zheng stressed this commemorative event as an opportunity to keep the RCCK's original aspiration, inherit good traditions, and advance its self-development.

Zheng called on the RCCK to undertake the missions given by the Party and State in the new era to build a strong China and promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
