At the invitation of the Macao Chamber of Commerce, Xian Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a delegation to attend the 18th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention in the Macao Special Administrative Region from Nov 2 to 4, and delivered a speech.

Xian noted that this event has served as a platform for enhancing economic cooperation and mutual understanding between overseas Chinese entrepreneurs and domestic industrial and commercial sectors. It has also played an irreplaceable role in promoting exchanges between China and the international community as well as mutual learning among civilizations, Xian said.

Xian pointed out that in the nearly 26 years since Macao returned to the motherland, the practice of "one country, two systems", in light of Macao's conditions, has reaped great success and given full play to its unique and important role in national development.

Xian highlighted that Macao's "One Center, One Platform and One Base" development strategy, that is to build Macao into the world center of tourism and leisure, the China-Portuguese-speaking countries commercial and trade service platform, and an exchange and cooperation base with Chinese culture as the mainstream and a coexistence of diversified cultures, paved a golden way for global Chinese entrepreneurs to connect China with Portuguese-speaking countries and even the world.

She hoped that Chinese entrepreneurs will be able to translate the vision of "a community with a shared future for Chinese entrepreneurs" into action. They should also contribute more to building a strong China and achieving great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization, and to promoting exchanges between the Chinese people and people from other countries.

During her stay in Macao, Xian also met with Ho Hau Wah, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, and Sam Hou Fai, Macao's chief executive. She visited the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao, met with CPPCC National Committee members from Macao at the Mazu Cultural Village and the Macao Foundation, and surveyed the Macau University of Science and Technology where CPPCC members work.
