The Standing Committee of the 13th Central Committee of the China Democratic League (CDL) held its 12th session in Beijing on Oct 30.
Meeting participants focused on studying and implementing the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and held in-depth discussions on ideas and measures for better performing the functions of the CDL as a participating political party in the new journey of building a modern socialist China.
Ding Zhongli, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CDL Central Committee, addressed the opening meeting. Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the CDL Central Committee, presided over the opening meeting and delivered a speech at the closing meeting.
Ding noted that the Recommendations of the CPC Central Committee for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development, deliberated and adopted at the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, demonstrated the efforts of the Party, the country and the Chinese people in boosting economic development, achieving long-term social stability, and driving Chinese modernization.
Ding said that the CDL should take studying and implementing the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session as a major political task for now and some time to come. The CDL should disseminate the guiding principles through multiple channels, align its ideology and actions with them, and implement the CPC Central Committee's decisions and plans, giving full play to its role as a participating political party, Ding added.
Wang stressed the importance of strengthening political guidance, focusing on the central tasks of the country, and prioritizing talent development in promoting relevant work.
