The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held a targeted consultation meeting on Oct 29 to discuss promoting work of sports publicity and culture.
The event brought together CPPCC National Committee members, experts, scholars, and representatives from related government departments to exchange views, provide suggestions and build consensus.
Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting noted that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, literal and artistic works on sports mushroomed on both online and offline platforms. The integrated development of tourism, culture and sports has achieved substantial progress, with relevant industries flourishing, according to the meeting.
The meeting highlighted the importance of recognizing the new situations and tasks faced by sports publicity work in the new era. More efforts should be made to build China into a sports power and give full play to the role of sports education, culture and publicity work in pooling strength, nurturing minds and showcasing the soft power of the country. The sports publicity work system should be upgraded with the right orientation and targeted content to complement the diversified communication paradigm in an all-media era, the meeting noted.
Officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, National Radio and Television Administration and General Administration of Sport introduced basic situations and strategic measures for promoting sports publicity work.
CPPCC members, experts and scholars offered suggestions on publicity content building, talent cultivation and communication channel expansion, and held discussions with the concerned officials.
