The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held a science popularization lecture on Oct 28 in Beijing on gravitational waves. Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the gathering.
Cai Ronggen, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered the lecture. He elaborated on gravitational waves from multiple perspectives such as theoretical predictions, experimental observations and scientific significance. Cai also engaged in exchanges with the audience.
The lecture was attended by more than 700 people, including members of the CPPCC's national and local committees, scientists and researchers as well as teachers and students.
As an important part of the "serving the people" initiative of the CPPCC National Committee, the science popularization lecture aims to leverage CPPCC members' professional expertise to help enhance public scientific literacy.
