Xian Hui, vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, led a team to survey Shanghai from Oct 20 to 22, focusing on enhancing youth exchanges between Shanghai and the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
The team visited enterprises providing internship for Hong Kong youth, enterprises created by Macao youth, incubation bases, and youth exchange bases in Shanghai. The team held in-depth discussions with representatives of young entrepreneurs from Hong Kong and Macao and local officials to learn about youth exchanges between Shanghai, and Hong Kong and Macao, as well as the progress of cooperation in building international financial, trade and shipping centers in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The team stated that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, the CPC Central Committee has attached great importance to Hong Kong and Macao affairs, especially work related to youth in those regions.
The team noted that coordinated efforts should be made to enhance youth exchanges between Shanghai, and Hong Kong and Macao. More plans should be introduced to offer internship, employment and exchange opportunities in Shanghai for youth from Hong Kong and Macao, while also sending more young talents from Shanghai to the two cities for mutual exchanges, according to the team.
The team stressed that Shanghai and Hong Kong should fully leverage their roles in coordinating the building of the three centers. This coordination is essential for achieving deeper cooperation on a larger scale and at a higher level, thereby injecting strong momentum into the Chinese modernization drive, they said.
