On Oct 17, the Committee on Proposals of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) visited the Central Committee of the China Democratic League (CDL) and held a meeting to hear and solicit advice for the CPPCC's proposal work. Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the CDL Central Committee, addressed the gathering.

Wang noted that the CDL Central Committee bases its work on research results, and gives full play to the roles of its special committees, primary organizations, think tanks, research institutes and experts in order to improve the mechanisms for proposal work. The CDL Central Committee will take this visit as an opportunity and spare no effort to present proposals, contributing its wisdom and strength to building a modern socialist China, he said.

Liu Jiayi, chairman of the Committee on Proposals of the CPPCC National Committee, gave an overview of the work on proposals since the first session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee in 2023, and the plan of the proposal work for the coming year. Zhang Daohong, vice-chairman of the CDL Central Committee, introduced the proposals of the CDL Central Committee that are expected to be submitted at the fourth session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee in 2026. Meeting participants held an in-depth discussion on improving the quality of proposals and improving the efficiency of proposal handling.

Since the first session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee in 2023, the CDL Central Committee has submitted over 130 proposals in the fields of culture, education, science and technology, environmental protection, social governance, agriculture and rural development. Among them, 16 have been selected as key proposals of the CPPCC National Committee.
