An exchange event for representatives of overseas Chinese associations promoting China's peaceful reunification was held in Beijing on Sept 29. At the event, 120 participants were gathered, including overseas representatives attending National Day celebration activities in Beijing and members of the Culture and Arts Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification.

Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, and vice-president of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, attended the event and delivered a speech.

Su noted that 2025 marks the final year of implementing China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), with preparations for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) already underway. Under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, China's economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period has made remarkable progress and achieved historic accomplishments, making the country one of the most stable, reliable and proactive forces in global development.

This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the World Anti-Fascist War, and Taiwan's recovery from Japanese occupation, she noted.

Su emphasized the need to thoroughly implement the CPC's overall policy for resolving the Taiwan question in the new era. She called for upholding the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, promoting the peaceful and integrated development of cross-Strait relations, strongly opposing "Taiwan independence" and interference by external forces, and resolutely advancing the process of national reunification.
