The Standing Committee of the 15th Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) held its 12th session in Jiujiang, East China's Jiangxi province, on Sept 25. 

Cai Dafeng, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, presided over the opening meeting and delivered remarks at the closing meeting. 

Cai underlined the need to continue advancing the thematic education campaign to thoroughly implement the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s spirit of self-reform, adhering to the people-centered philosophy, earnestly implementing the CPC Central Committee's eight-point code and its detailed implementation rules, and strengthening rectification to improve discipline and conduct. 

He noted that in the fourth quarter of the year, the CAPD will convene the fourth plenary session of its 15th Central Committee and a conference marking the association's 80th anniversary. He called on the organization to promote development through study, strengthen organizational building, and deliver high-quality results for the overall development agenda and as a tribute to its 80th anniversary. 

The meeting featured a study session on the continued implementation of the CPC Central Committee's eight-point code. It deliberated on the draft outline of the work report of the Standing Committee of the 15th Central Committee of the CAPD, adopted opinions on strengthening education on the association's history and discussed the draft plan for its 2026 social service program. Participants also heard a report on the CAPD Central Committee's democratic oversight work in Jiangxi province regarding protecting the ecological environment of the Yangtze River. 

Written reports were also presented on preparations for the association's 80th anniversary celebrations, the CAPD Central Committee's key inspections and surveys for 2025 and its advisory and policy proposals in the past 12 months, as well as membership development and the outcomes of the thematic education campaign. 

The meeting was attended by Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, along with CAPD Central Committee's vice-chairpersons and standing committee members.
