Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), led a team of non-Communist Party of China (CPC) members of the CPPCC National Committee to Northeast China's Jilin province from Sept 15 to 19, to survey local efforts in  strengthening talent recruitment, retention and cultivation in border areas.

The team visited Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture and the city of Jilin, where they inspected schools, commercial districts, talent bases and border posts. They also had discussions with government officials, industrial workers and university graduates who chose to work in Jilin, gaining insights into the province's efforts in talent work in border regions.

The team stressed that talent is vital for safeguarding border stability, driving economic growth, improving people's livelihoods, and fostering cultural prosperity. They called for upholding the CPC leadership over developing talent, strengthening political guidance, and creating tailored "talent maps" aligned with major national strategies such as rural vitalization.

They suggested building platforms for innovation and entrepreneurship, addressing practical concerns such as housing and strengthening basic and vocational education to improve workforce quality. Young professionals, they said, should be encouraged to work at the grassroots level in order to build up their will and abilities.

The team emphasized that the CPPCC will make full use of its role as a specialized consultative body, focusing on pressing issues in talent development, offer constructive proposals, and contribute wisdom to advancing high-quality talent work in border areas.

During the trip, the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee also held a science lecture at Northeast Electric Power University.
