A team of non-Communist Party of China members from the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee conducted a survey in Southwest China's Guizhou province from Sept 15 to 19, focusing on strengthening cybersecurity systems and improving public safety governance mechanisms.
The survey was led by He Baoxiang, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang.
The team visited the cities of Zunyi, Bijie and Guiyang, where they toured facilities including the National Big Data (Guizhou) Comprehensive Pilot Zone Exchange and Experience Center and the Guiyang Big Data Security Center. They held discussions with government officials and business representatives, learning about emergency response to cybersecurity incidents, data governance and utilization, as well as enterprise digital transformation. They also studied Guizhou's practices in cybersecurity system building and public safety governance, and listened to opinions and suggestions.
The team acknowledged Guizhou's efforts in strengthening cybersecurity systems and capacity-building, which have laid a solid foundation for ensuring the growth of the country's digital economy.
The team emphasized that amid the increasingly complex cybersecurity landscape, efforts should be made to enhance data security management and personal information protection, improve cybersecurity monitoring and emergency response, and reinforce the national cybersecurity shield. They also highlighted the need to coordinate development and security, foster the digital economy and promote a virtuous interaction between high-quality development and high-level security.
The CPPCC, they added, will leverage its role as a specialized consultative body to provide advice, build consensus and contribute to the improvement of China's national cybersecurity systems.
