Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People' s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, led an inspection team to Central China' s Henan province from Sept 15 to 19 to review the implementation and outcomes of policies supporting the development of private enterprises.

The team visited the cities of Zhengzhou, Xuchang and Pingdingshan, where they toured industrial parks, research and development bases, and production workshops. They also held in-depth discussions with local government departments and business representatives.

The team noted that Henan has made promoting the growth of the private economy a key measure in implementing major national strategies involving the central region such as the rise of central China and ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin. These efforts, they said, have significantly boosted the high-quality development of the private sector.

The team emphasized that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the CPC Central Committee has attached great importance to the development of the private economy, which has now developed to a considerable scale and plays an important role in the overall economy. They called for removing barriers that hinder equal access of private enterprises to production factors and fair market competition, making stronger efforts to resolve arrears owed to private firms, and earnestly safeguarding the lawful rights and interests of private enterprises and entrepreneurs.

The CPPCC should give full play to its role in consultative oversight, enhance the effectiveness of democratic oversight, and help ensure that relevant decisions and policies of the CPC Central Committee are implemented effectively, they added.

During the visit, the team also engaged in CPPCC members' "serving the people" activity.
