A team from the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) visited the Museum of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in Beijing on Sept 18 and also held a symposium on carrying forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance and promoting the high-quality development of the CPPCC. The team was led by Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee.
The team members stressed the decisive role of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in winning the war, and emphasized that the CPC leadership is the fundamental guarantee for the development of the Party and the country. They called for drawing strength from the great spirit of the resistance, giving full play to the CPPCC's role in uniting different sectors of society, telling the stories of the war and guiding the public — especially the younger generation — to remember history, honor heroes, cherish peace and build the future.
They said the spirit of the resistance should be integrated with efforts to improve CPPCC work, and that the roles of special committees, participating groups, and CPPCC members should be strengthened. Targeted suggestions should be proposed by CPPCC members, with focus on key issues such as drafting the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), deepening reforms, advancing high-quality development and maintaining social stability, the team noted.
The symposium was chaired by Che Jun, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee's Committee on Population, Resources and Environment. It was attended by vice-chairpersons of the special committee as well as CPPCC members from the All-China Women's Federation and from the participating group in the field of the environment and resources.
