The third Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Development opened in Guangzhou in South China's Guangdong province on Sept 15, bringing together more than 1,200 participants from government agencies and business sectors in China and abroad.
Jiang Xinzhi, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Jiang emphasized that building the GBA is a major national strategy and serves as a new practice of the "one country, two systems".
Since the release of the Outline Development Plan for the GBA six years ago, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao have worked in close partnership, significantly boosting the region's economic strength and competitiveness, he said.
Jiang expressed the hope that participants in the conference will deepen exchanges and cooperation to jointly write a new chapter of high-quality development in the GBA, while contributing actively to the building of an open world economy and a community with a shared future for humanity.
The conference, themed "Empowering the Greater Bay Area for New Opportunities," was jointly hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and the governments of the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
