A team from the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) visited Southwest China's Guizhou province from Sept 8 to 12 to extend Teachers' Day greetings to local teachers. China's Teachers' Day falls on Sept 10.
The team was led by Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy.
During their stay, the team visited the Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, and the city of Tongren, where they visited primary schools and vocational middle schools, donated supplies and had in-depth discussions with local teachers on topics such as school development and teachers' capacity building.
The team extended holiday greetings to teachers and encouraged them to recognize their honorable mission and major responsibilities in building China into a leading country in education, to hold themselves to high standards and to make greater contributions as teachers.
The team emphasized the need to accelerate the building of a high-quality, professional teaching workforce characterized by noble ethics, solid expertise, balanced structure and vitality. They also highlighted the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body in promoting reform and innovation within the teaching workforce, enhancing the supply of outstanding educators, and optimizing their resource allocation to advance education modernization, ensuring that education truly meets the people's expectations.
