The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) conducted an inspection in East China's Fujian province from Sept 8 to 12, focusing on advancing the high-quality development of the marine economy. The inspection was led by Wang Lu, deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party.
The inspection team went to the cities of Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, where they visited enterprises engaged in marine equipment manufacturing, offshore ranching, offshore photovoltaic and wind power projects, as well as ports, marine research institutes, marine-related high-tech firms and modern marine service and marine ecological protection enterprises and institutions, gaining detailed understanding of local efforts in boosting marine economic development.
The team noted that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, China has made major breakthroughs in marine economic development, scientific and technological innovation, food security through developing a "blue granary", and ecological restoration.
CPPCC members said they would remain focused on the goal of high-quality marine economic development, give full play to their roles, build broad consensus and provide insights and suggestions on building China into a strong maritime country and advancing Chinese modernization.
