The Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSL) Central Committee held a symposium on Sept 8 at the Museum of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in Beijing to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and chairwoman of the TDSL Central Committee, attended the event and delivered a speech.
Su underscored the role of the Communist Party of China (CPC) as the backbone of the national resistance during the war, recalling the sacrifices and solidarity of Taiwan compatriots who stood with the motherland against Japanese aggression. She urged the TDSL to uphold the CPC's overall leadership, and promote the great spirit of the war of resistance while contributing to China's modernization, and firmly advancing national reunification by expanding the forces opposing "Taiwan independence" and strengthening pro-reunification efforts.
The event also featured the unveiling of a new "TDSL Patriotic Education Base" at the museum. Following the symposium, TDSL members in Beijing and young people from Taiwan visited the exhibition themed "For National Liberation and World Peace".
