The Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSL) Central Committee opened a special exhibition in Beijing on Sept 4 to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as of the recovery of Taiwan.

Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairwoman of the TDSL Central Committee, announced its opening.

Jiang Liping, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the TDSL Central Committee, said in his address that the exhibition showcases the glorious patriotic tradition of Taiwan compatriots and their struggle against Japanese colonial rule, as well as their growing recognition of the Communist Party of China's leadership in the struggle for national survival and unity.

Jiang said the exhibition aims to strengthen cross-Strait consensus by revisiting the recovery of Taiwan and honoring fallen heroes and to inspire joint efforts toward national reunification.

The exhibition features over 300 historical photos and archival documents. Officials from central departments, guests and youth representatives from Taiwan attended the opening ceremony and visited the exhibition.
