A team of non-Communist Party of China (CPC) members from the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) visited North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region from Aug 27 to 30 to survey local efforts in building the region into a gateway for northward opening-up. The survey was led by Jiang Zuojun, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party.
The trip covered the cities of Hohhot and Ulanqab, where the team toured key projects and enterprises, including a comprehensive bonded zone, a logistics park, the dairy company Yili Group, a cross-border e-commerce industrial park, the China-Europe railway express hub and the Huawei cloud data center.
They had in-depth discussions with local officials and conducted a study survey at the Inner Mongolia Communications Investment Group, learning about the region's progress in bonded logistics, international trade, digital development, and outward-oriented industries, while listening to opinions and suggestions.
The team noted that since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012, Inner Mongolia has implemented the CPC Central Committee's major decisions on opening-up, aligned itself with the new development philosophy, and integrated into the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor. These efforts, they said, have raised the region's level of openness and built it into a vital gateway for China's northward opening-up.
The team stressed the need to advance high-level opening-up and respond effectively to external uncertainties amid a complex and rapidly changing international environment. They underscored the importance of leveraging the CPPCC's unique strengths, reinforcing consensus-building, boosting development confidence and putting forward practical policy recommendations on regional layout and higher-level open economy development, and addressing pressing issues raised by enterprises and local communities, thereby contributing CPPCC wisdom to the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).
