The Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held the seventh session of its lecture series on culture and history in Beijing on Aug 28, focusing on the theme of promoting the correct view of World War II history and carrying forward the great spirit of the war of resistance against Japanese aggression. Jiang Xinzhi, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the lecture. 

The lecture was delivered by Xia Chuntao, a CPPCC National Committee member and director of the Institute of Modern History at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Citing detailed historical materials, vivid cases and rigorous analysis, Xia illustrated the essence of the correct view of World War II history, and underscored the pivotal role of the Communist Party of China in the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45). He also engaged in interactive discussions with the audience. 

The lecture was praised for its clear theme, broad perspective and integration of historical analysis with contemporary reflection. Those in attendance described it as both historically profound and highly relevant to present times, offering strong resonance and inspiration. 

They said they would draw lessons from history, cherish peace, and integrate a correct view of history into their beliefs and actions. They pledged to carry forward the great spirit of resistance, press ahead with determination on the new journey of the new era, and serve as guardians of historical memory, inheritors of national spirit and promoters of peace and development, making contributions to building China into a great country and achieving the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
