A symposium was held in Beijing to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP). He Wei, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CPWDP Central Committee, attended the event and delivered remarks. Yang Zhen, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the CPWDP Central Committee, presided over the meeting.

He Wei reviewed the CPWDP's 95-year journey, highlighting its distinctive role and unique position in the history of China’s revolution and among the country's non-Communist parties. He summarized the valuable experience and fine traditions the party has cultivated over the course of its development.

He stressed the need to further strengthen political awareness in following the leadership of the Communist Party of China and to bolster confidence in the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He also called for firm confidence in China’s political party system, conscious efforts to uphold, develop and improve the system, and commitment to carrying forward the tradition of multiparty cooperation to ensure the CPWDP's lasting vitality.

He urged the party to take on new responsibilities in fulfilling its duties, demonstrating its role as a witness, participant, defender and promoter of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

He called on the CPWDP to mobilize public support and pool strength to achieve new progress in strengthening theoretical and political guidance. He also urged the party to fulfill its functions to serve the overall development agenda and contribute to Chinese modernization, and to continue strengthening self-development while preserving its fine traditions to present a renewed image as a party participating in the administration of State affairs.
