The Standing Committee of the 12th Central Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association (CNDCA) held its 12th plenary meeting in Beijing on July 28. The meeting focused on implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the second and third plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, reviewing the association's work in the first half of the year and setting priorities for the second half.

Hao Mingjin, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CNDCA Central Committee, presided over the meeting and addressed the gathering.

Hao noted that in the first half of the year, the association carried out the education campaign to improve conduct, enhanced internal governance and organizational capacity, strengthened its role in political consultation and deliberation of State affairs through thorough research and policy recommendations, and implemented a duty performance enhancement initiative to improve its social service capabilities. The association also continued its institutional standardization, upheld fine traditions, implemented the CPC Central Committee's eight-point code on improving conduct, and prepared for the celebration of its 80th anniversary, he said.

Hao emphasized the need to remain steadfast in political direction and put in thorough and meticulous ideological and publicity efforts in the second half of the year. He called for steady progress in the education campaign, continued implementation of the eight-point code, coordinated efforts to ensure the success of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the association, and full leverage of the association's strengths to contribute to Chinese modernization.

Qin Boyong, vice-chairwoman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and executive vice-chairwoman of the CNDCA Central Committee, also attended the meeting.
