Wang Yong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team to Northeast China's Jilin province from July 14 to 17 to survey local work on building a unified national market.

The team visited enterprises, government service centers, industrial parks and border ports in cities including Changchun and Jilin as well as Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture. They also held discussions with local officials and residents to better understand the province's achievements, challenges and suggestions related to this national initiative.

The team noted that Jilin has made solid progress in advancing high-quality development and revitalization, especially by aligning with the mission of safeguarding national defense, food security, ecological security, energy security and industrial security. In recent years, the province has accelerated efforts to build a unified national market, with marked improvements in optimizing the business environment and promoting efficient allocation of production factors, they noted.

The team emphasized that building a unified national market is fundamental to shaping a new development paradigm. Efforts are needed to fully understand its strategic significance and adhere to the principle of unified basic market systems, unified market infrastructure, unified standards of government behavior, unified market supervision and law enforcement, and unified factor market, as well as sustained opening-up efforts to both internal and external markets. 

The team called for balancing capable governments and efficient markets, refining institutional frameworks, improving connectivity, eliminating local protectionism, and enhancing the circulation of resources. These efforts will help foster a fair, open and world-class business environment, promote the transformation of China's market from sizeable to robust, enhance the connection between domestic and international markets and inject strong impetus and vitality into Chinese modernization.

The team also urged leveraging the unique strengths of the CPPCC to deepen research and offer valuable policy recommendations, contributing to the sustained advancement of a unified national market.
