President of Mauritius meets Qin Boyong

President of Mauritius Dharam Gokhool met with visiting Qin Boyong, vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in Port Louis on July 17. 

Qin conveyed warm greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Gokhool, highlighting the traditional friendship between the two countries. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have adhered to mutual respect and common development, setting an example of equality and mutual benefit among developing countries, she said, adding that China is willing to continue mutual support with Mauritius and strive for new outcomes of the strategic partnership between the two countries. She also gave an introduction of China's economic development and Chinese modernization. 

Gokhool asked Qin to convey his warm regards to Xi and the Chinese people. He acknowledged the long-standing friendship between Mauritius and China and the fruitful cooperation outcomes since the establishment of diplomatic ties, and thanked China for its long-term support. He said that Mauritius regards China as a priority partner, firmly supports the one-China principle and looks forward to deepening bilateral cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, culture and tourism, and climate change response, in order to benefit people of both countries. 

During the visit, Qin also met with Speaker of the National Assembly of Mauritius Shirin Aumeeruddy-Cziffra.
