The Standing Committee of the 14th Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK) held its 11th plenary meeting in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province, on July 10.

Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, addressed the meeting. He Baoxiang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, presided over the opening session.

The meeting reviewed the progress of work on building capacity of duty performance in line with the education campaign on self-improvement.

In his remarks, Zheng stressed the need to enhance the RCCK's capacity to perform its functions, including improving political competence, strengthening the ability to participate in and deliberate on the administration of State affairs, conducting democratic oversight, engaging in political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and improving the ability to address internal challenges.

The priority in enhancing duty performance is to improve political competence, Zheng said, by cultivating firm political conviction, and developing the ability to tell right from wrong, to observe the overall trend, to respond to complex situations and to implement decisions with firm political resolve.

He further noted that enhancing capabilities of duty performance is a critical long-term task for the RCCK. He urged upholding fundamental principles while breaking new ground, promoting continuous learning and critical thinking, and having a clear understanding of the RCCK's role in China's political system. These efforts, he said, are essential for improving the RCCK's performance in political consultation and democratic oversight under the CPC's leadership.

Zheng also emphasized that the ongoing education campaign is aimed at identifying, analyzing and addressing issues within the organization. Improvements in ideological and political awareness, organizational capacity and talent building, unity within the leadership, work conduct and integrity, as well as institutional effectiveness will enable the organization to fulfill its responsibilities and enhance overall performance, he added.
