A team from the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee conducted a field study in Beijing on July 9, focusing on integrated urban-rural development and Red culture studies. CPPCC National Committee vice-chairpersons Hu Chunhua and Qin Boyong participated in the event.

The team visited the conservation planting area of Jingxi rice in Shangzhuang town and the Yangtaishan patriotic education base in Sujiatuo town, both of which are located in Haidian district.

Haidian is the birthplace of the Jingxi rice variety, which is known for its long-standing cultivation history. The Jingxi rice cultural system has been included in China’s list of important agricultural heritage and Jingxi rice is registered as an agricultural product with national geographical indication.

At the conservation site, CPPCC members were briefed in detail on the development of the Jingxi rice cultural system, and the initiatives to protect the seed variety and utilize its agricultural culture. At the Yangtaishan education base, they toured an exhibition on the secret communication network in western Beijing, gaining insight into the heroic resistance efforts of the Communist Party of China during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45). The team also visited Sujiatuo's entrepreneurship center to survey local efforts in integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism.
