A team from the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee made a study tour in Tianjin on July 8 as part of its themed reading and research activity on advancing the Beautiful China initiative.

The team visited local environment-related enterprises and the National Maritime Museum of China, and held a symposium on improving waste recycling systems and promoting high-quality development of the marine economy.

Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended and addressed the event. CPPCC National Committee Vice-Chairman Wang Guangqian was also present. Six CPPCC National Committee members delivered remarks during the discussions.

Participants noted that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, the CPC Central Committee has prioritized ecological progress as a central element of national development, emphasizing the strategic balance between environmental preservation and economic development. This has led to historic, transformative, and systemic progress in both the theory and practice of ecological advancement in China, offering a fundamental framework for achieving modernization marked by harmony between humanity and nature.

They emphasized the importance of targeted research and practical policy recommendations on addressing key challenges in waste recycling, enhancing resource recovery and reuse, and promoting green, low-carbon and high-quality development.

They also highlighted the importance of aligning thoughts and actions with the decisions and plans made by the CPC Central Committee on advancing the high-quality development of the marine economy.

They called for efforts to reinforce marine science and technology, formulate sound development strategies, upgrade marine industries, and enhance the protection of the marine environment, so as to contribute to global ocean governance.
