The Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSL) held a symposium on July 7 in Hezhang county in Bijie, Southwest China's Guizhou province, to mark the 20th anniversary of its pairing assistance to the county.

Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairwoman of the TDSL Central Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Su said that the TDSL has always upheld the leadership of the Communist Party of China and approached its assistance efforts from the perspective of multiparty cooperation. With a consistent focus on improving people's well-being, the league has drawn on its unique strengths to provide comprehensive and coordinated assistance, greatly supporting the county's drive of poverty alleviation and rural vitalization, she said.

Su called on TDSL members to continue uniting their efforts, rallying support from Taiwan compatriots and broader society, and working hand in hand with Hezhang to contribute with concrete actions to Bijie's development as a pilot zone for the new development philosophy.

At the symposium, the TDSL Central Committee donated 1 million yuan ($139,300) in cash and 2 million yuan worth of assistance materials to Hezhang. During the event, the participants also engaged in social service and research visits to the county's Jinyinshan neighborhood and Pingshan township.
