BEIJING -- Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, on Wednesday called on CPPCC members to stick to the right direction of the country's economic reforms and to create a strong synergy in upholding, supporting and engaging in the reforms.
Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks at the closing meeting of the 12th standing committee session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee.
The CPPCC should continue to focus on key issues in economic reforms, and center on the key tasks in the reforms to carry out in-depth investigations, conduct thorough consultations and offer constructive advice, Wang said.
He also called on CPPCC members to research and deliberate on the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), improve the work systems and mechanisms of the CPPCC, and make concrete efforts to carry out the CPPCC's duties in the second half of the year.
After the closing meeting, Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun delivered a lecture on developing new quality productive forces through sci-tech innovation.
Attendees at the standing committee session, which started on Monday, discussed topics concerning economic reforms and the advancement of Chinese modernization.
