At the invitation of the Macau Chinese Cultural Friendship Association, Xian Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team to Macao from June 10 to 12 to attend the "Spring of Haojiang River 2025" event.

In her address, Xian praised Macao's vibrant cultural development as a vivid reflection of the inclusive and open nature of Chinese culture and a testament to the remarkable success of the "one country, two systems" policy.

Xian stressed the importance of fully, faithfully and firmly implementing the "one country, two systems" policy, resolutely safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests, and upholding the principle of "patriots governing Macao". She emphasized the need to follow the core values of patriotism and love for Macao in better shouldering the cultural mission in the new era.

Xian urged Macao to fully tap its unique cultural strengths to promote exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Western civilizations. Cultural prosperity, she stressed, should serve as a driving force for writing a new chapter in the successful practice of "one country, two systems". She also emphasized the need to foster patriotic sentiment, especially among young people, and to support cross-sector integration of culture with tourism and other industries to drive moderately diversified economic development of Macao.

Touching on the strategy of Macao-Hengqin integration, Xian encouraged deeper cultural cooperation as a pathway for Macao to further align with national development priorities and contribute to Chinese modernization with cultural prosperity.

During her visit, Xian met with representatives from the Macau Federation of Cultural Sectors Associations and the Macau Chinese Cultural Friendship Association. She also visited institutions where Macao members of the CPPCC National Committee work and held discussions with some of them.
