The Central Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association (CNDCA) held a symposium in Beijing on June 6 to mark the 90th birthday anniversary of Cheng Siwei, the late chairman of the CNDCA Central Committee.

Hao Mingjin, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CNDCA Central Committee, addressed the event, which was presided over by Qin Boyong, vice-chairwoman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and executive vice-chairwoman of the CNDCA Central Committee.

Cheng, who passed away in 2015, was a close friend of the Communist Party of China, an outstanding leader of the CNDCA and the China Vocational Education Society, a social activist with wide influence, a well-known expert in China's chemical industry, and a renowned economist with a high reputation both at home and abroad. 

In his speech, Hao recollected Cheng's contributions in multiple fields and called for inheriting Cheng's legacies in serving the country and the people with full devotion. CNDCA members should take Cheng as an inspiration to stay true to their original aspirations, inherit the fine traditions and absorb positive energies to fight for the building of a strong country and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, he added.
