Xian Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team to East China's Jiangxi province from June 3 to 6, to survey local work on building an inland pilot zone for open economy.
The team visited the cities of Ganzhou, Ji'an and Nanchang to gain a comprehensive understanding of local efforts in this aspect and held symposiums with related department officials to solicit opinions.
The team said that the central leadership holds dear Jiangxi as an old revolutionary base and has high hopes for its high-quality development and high-standard opening-up. They urged Jiangxi to fully leverage its combined advantages under multiple national development strategies, proactively develop new quality productive forces, expand and strengthen strategic emerging industries and future industries, and promote high-quality development in old revolutionary base areas. Jiangxi needs to unswervingly deepen opening-up to domestic and foreign markets, and strive to build itself into a highland of reform and opening-up in inland areas, proactively serving and integrating into the new development pattern, they added.
They also called on Jiangxi to deepen economic and trade cooperation with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as overseas markets, by better tapping the bridging role of CPPCC members from the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese sector, to foster a favorable external environment for the province's high-level opening-up.
