A team from the Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) carried out a survey from May 22 to 27 in South China's Guangdong province, focusing on foreign trade development. Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, led the survey.
The team visited industrial parks, research and development centers, and manufacturing facilities in the cities of Zhanjiang, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. They held discussions with representatives from government departments, industrial associations, and enterprises to gain a comprehensive understanding of Guangdong's efforts in boosting high-quality development of international trade.
The team noted that Guangdong has made continuous progress in pursuing innovative development of foreign trade, optimizing its business environment, and accelerating foreign trade transformation and upgrade. By expanding institutional opening-up, Guangdong has explored new approaches and models that offer valuable experience and innovative practices for the country's high-quality foreign trade development, they said.
The team emphasized that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, China has made significant strides in advancing high-quality foreign trade development. Amid an increasingly complex foreign trade landscape, it is essential to build consensus and focus efforts in key areas such as optimizing goods trade, innovating trade in service, nurturing trade in new business forms, advancing trade digitalization, and building a green trade system, they noted.
The CPPCC, as a specialized consultative body, will continue to assume its responsibilities and provide pragmatic suggestions on the central tasks of the CPC and the country, and help foster a favorable external environment to support the high-quality development of China's foreign trade, the team said.
