A team from the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) carried out a democratic supervisory inspection in East China's Jiangsu province from May 19 to 23. The inspection focused on Jiangsu's efforts in building itself into a two-way open hub to spur innovation and development in foreign trade. It also served as an oversight inspection on the handling of a key proposal on supporting the digital transformation of Taiwan-funded enterprises.

Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, led the inspection.

The team inspected over 10 enterprises, industrial parks, as well as cross-Strait exchange bases, and centers for overseas Chinese entrepreneurs in the cities of Nantong, Suzhou, Wuxi, and Nanjing. The team talked with local officials and employees to better understand their progress and gather suggestions. In Nanjing, the team held a symposium with local officials.

The team acknowledged Jiangsu's efforts in boosting reform and development through opening-up, focusing on its role as a major economic engine, and pioneering reforms to expand institutional opening-up and facilitate deep integration between technological and industrial innovation.

The team also lauded Jiangsu's proactive participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, with efforts in expanding international cooperation, establishing cooperation platforms, and opening new channels for engagement. The province's achievements in economic growth, social progress, and ecological development in the new era have presented China to the world in a truthful, multi-faceted and comprehensive manner, the team noted.
