The Kaiming Culture Forum 2025, hosted by the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), was held in Jingdezhen, a city renowned for its ceramic heritage in East China's Jiangxi province, on May 22.
Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, addressed the opening ceremony.
Noting that the CAPD has long regarded cultural development as a core mission, Zhu said the forum, themed on cultural inheritance and technological innovation, serves as a key platform for the CAPD Central Committee to offer policy suggestions and build consensus in support of the country's cultural development. Since its inception, the forum has been held in multiple cities renowned for historical and cultural heritages, yielding fruitful outcomes and playing an important role in serving national development, he added.
The theme of this year's forum reflected the dialectical relationship between cultural inheritance and technological innovation, he said. Deep integration of culture and technology is conducive to developing new forms of cultural industries, generating new growth drivers, enhancing innovation capacity, and fostering mutual prosperity between culture and technology, he added.
He pointed out that ceramics represent a fusion of ancient technological wisdom and cultural aesthetics, and the evolution of Jingdezhen's ceramic industry vividly illustrates the intertwined relationship between cultural inheritance and technological progress. Zhu expressed hope that participants would contribute ideas on building mechanisms for culture-tech integration, cultivating emerging cultural business forms, and using culture to empower broader economic and social development.
Zhu reaffirmed the CAPD's commitment to working closely with peers in the cultural sector to stay true to its mission and direction, work proactively and diligently, and make greater contributions to cultural prosperity and building China into a country with a strong culture in the new era.
The one-and-a-half day forum featured two sub-forums on the creative transformation and innovative development of traditional culture as well as on historical roots and modern pathways of technological innovation.
