The Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) convened a symposium on May 12 focusing on optimizing the allocation of education and healthcare resources across regions. 

Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) Central Committee, addressed the meeting.

Officials from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, and the National Health Commission introduced the current status of regional education and healthcare services and held discussions with CPPCC members.

Zhu pointed out that the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China had made arrangements regarding deepening the comprehensive reform of the education sector and the institutional reform of the medicine and healthcare sector. He noted that optimizing the allocation of educational resources and improving mechanisms for promoting balanced development are essential for narrowing regional disparities, advancing equity in education, and strengthening the talent pipeline. 

He also underscored the importance of enhancing grassroots healthcare services and building a resilient public health system to safeguard people's health, improve population quality, and support social stability.

He called for aligning education and healthcare resource distribution with population development trends and shifting the focus from a "resource-centered" approach to a "quality-centered" approach. This, he said, would improve allocation mechanisms and drive high-quality development in the education and healthcare sectors, laying a solid foundation for building a strong nation and advancing national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
