A team from the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee visited Southwest China's Yunnan province from May 6 to 10 to survey local efforts in strengthening foreign-related rule of law to serve the development of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (FTA). The survey trip also sought to supervise the handling of the proposal on strengthening cultivation of foreign-related legal talents, one of the key proposals to be handled this year.
The team went to Kunming city and Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture, conducting on-site surveys at local judicial and administrative departments, universities and colleges, enterprises, and law firms.
The team acknowledged Yunnan's achievements in pursuing greater cooperation with South and Southeast Asia and serving the development of the China-ASEAN FTA.
In the face of the constantly evolving international and domestic situations and to meet the practical needs of expanding opening-up, efforts are needed to strengthen the strategic top-level design of foreign-related legal work, coordinate legislation, law enforcement, judicial and legal services, and the cultivation of legal talents, smooth internal and external cooperation, and establish and improve the judicial assistance mechanism, so as to support the economic and trade development of the China-ASEAN FTA, the team noted.
