A team from the Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee went to Central China's Hunan province from April 25 to 29 for an inspection on enhancing the preservation and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. Shao Hong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, led the team.

This inspection is one of the key democratic oversight priorities set by the Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies for 2025.

The team visited Shaoshan city, Pingjiang county and Liuyang city, touring revolutionary memorial halls, historical sites, old residences of revolutionary leaders and archives. They talked with local officials and residents to gain a detailed understanding of revolutionary cultural relic protection and research, exhibitions, educational outreach, and their integration into culture and tourism industry. They also learned about Hunan's practices and experiences in protecting and utilizing revolutionary cultural relics, and listened to feedback and suggestions.

The team noted that revolutionary cultural relics carry the glorious history of the heroic struggles undertaken by the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the people, record the great course and touching stories of the Chinese revolution, and are valuable assets of the CPC and the country.  They called for better protection, management, and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics to carry forward revolutionary traditions and culture. They also urged a holistic approach in the overall protection work, deepening systematic research, improving exhibition standards, reinforcing educational functions and integrated development, in a bid to invigorate revolutionary cultural work in the new era.

The team also emphasized the important role of the CPPCC as a specialized consultative body in pooling wisdom and strength in the ongoing protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics and inheriting revolutionary traditions and culture.
