Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with a delegation of overseas Chinese from both sides of the Taiwan Strait living in Latin America in Beijing on April 14.

Su, who is also chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League and vice-chairwoman of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, praised the role played by compatriots from both sides of the Strait in promoting peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and advancing the peaceful reunification of China.

She spoke on the development of the Chinese mainland in the new era and commemorations for the 20th anniversary of the enforcement of the Anti-Secession Law. Analyzing both the international situation and that across the Taiwan Strait, she said she hoped that compatriots from both sides of the Strait in Latin America will uphold the banner of patriotism, accurately grasp the new changes and characteristics of the situation across the Strait, and resolutely oppose separatism and interference. She called on them to promote the integrated development across the Strait, enhance China-Latin America friendship, and make new contributions to the complete reunification of the motherland and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
