Qin Boyong, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairwoman of the China National Democratic Construction Association Central Committee, led a team from the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas of the CPPCC National Committee to Yunnan province from April 7 to 10 for a democratic oversight inspection.
The inspection team focused on Yunnan's efforts in learning from and applying Zhejiang province's experience in carrying out the Green Rural Revival Program, with a mission to build a beautiful and harmonious countryside that is desirable to live and work in.
The team visited several regions in Yunnan, including Kunming, Pu'er and Xishuangbanna, gaining an insight into local efforts to improve the rural living environment, county-level urban-rural planning, the development of distinctive local industries, and the construction of beautiful villages. They also garnered opinions and suggestions from relevant government department officials and local residents.
The team emphasized that learning from and applying the successful experience of Zhejiang's Green Rural Revival Program is a major part of China's rural vitalization strategy. They underscored the importance of providing high-quality consultation and insightful suggestions on improving rural living environments. Efforts in this area should remain grounded in the needs of the people, adapt to local conditions, and be sustained over the long term, they noted.
The CPPCC, they said, should fully leverage its role as a specialized consultative body to conduct consultative oversight targeted at critical challenges in improving rural living environments so as to build consensus and pool expertise for Chinese modernization.
