Hu Chunhua, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team of non-Communist Party of China (CPC) members on a survey tour of East China's Anhui province from March 30 to April 3. The survey focused on strengthening the protection of traditional villages and promoting rural cultural vitalization.
The team went to the cities of Huangshan, Tongling, Wuhu and Ma’anshan, where they visited traditional villages and ancient dwellings. They talked with planners and operators of the traditional villages, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, and residents to gain a comprehensive understanding of the progress and challenges in the preservation work.
The team acknowledged Anhui's efforts in traditional village preservation in terms of top-level design, planning and guidance, innovative models, and the cultivation of related industries, which have yielded encouraging results.
The team stressed the importance of strengthening political guidance and aligning thoughts and actions with the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee. They called on CPPCC members to stay true to the body's roles and responsibilities, and to provide practical, insightful, and constructive proposals on issues concerning traditional village protection and rural cultural vitalization.
They also called for efforts to build consensus and pool wisdom to create the momentum needed for the implementation of relevant policies and initiatives.
