A team from the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) conducted a survey from March 21 to 25 in East China's Shanghai municipality and Jiangsu province, focusing on cultivating new quality productive forces through scientific and technological innovation. Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the China Association for Promoting Democracy Central Committee, led the team.

The team visited the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou, Changzhou and Wuxi, conducting in-depth field studies at research institutes, national key laboratories, industrial parks and enterprises. They talked with government officials, scientific researchers and business representatives to gain an insight into local efforts to drive basic research and breakthroughs in core technologies, enhance integration between technological and industrial innovation, reinforce the principal role of enterprises in innovation, and promote collaboration between industries, universities, and research institutes.

The team emphasized the need to study and implement the guiding principles of the latest sessions of the National People's Congress and the CPPCC National Committee, accelerate scientific and technological innovation, deepen the integration of scientific and industrial innovation, and build a modern industrial system to cultivate new momentum for developing new quality productive forces. They underscored the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body, urging members to make full use of its rich intellectual resources to conduct in-depth research and provide practical recommendations, so as to contribute to advancing Chinese modernization by building broad consensus and pooling wisdom and strength.

As part of the survey, some team members held a science popularization lecture at the Shanghai Natural History Museum, while others travelled to a revolutionary site in Wuxi for an education session on Party history.
