A team from the Committee on Economic Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee visited East China's Jiangsu province from March 19 to 21 to survey local efforts in comprehensively expanding domestic demand. Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, led the team, who had carried out preliminary research in the province prior to the trip. 

The team visited the cities of Yancheng, Taizhou, and Wuxi, conducting field studies at industrial parks, enterprises, vocational schools, social welfare institutions, and elderly meal service centers. They held discussions with government officials, business leaders, and workers to gain insights into Jiangsu's approaches and recommendations for boosting consumption and domestic demand. 

The team commended Jiangsu for the continued optimization of its economic structure and improvements in economic efficiency. They expressed confidence in the province's ability to fulfill its role as a key economic powerhouse and set an example for nationwide efforts to expand domestic demand. 

The team emphasized that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, domestic demand has played an increasingly vital role in driving China's economic growth. They stressed the need to adopt a strategic perspective, recognizing the importance and urgency of expanding domestic demand and its key role in further advancing Chinese modernization. 

The team called for coordinated and comprehensive policies to enhance consumption by improving quality and bringing more benefits to the people, and boost efficiency for wider investment, so as to form a robust and sustainable framework for expanding domestic demand. 

The team also highlighted the CPPCC's role in conducting high-quality research and contributing quality policy recommendations, with focus on the central tasks of the CPC and the country, especially on expanding domestic demand in a comprehensive manner.
