Wu Weihua, chairman of the Jiusan Society's Central Committee, addressed a meeting of its Standing Committee in Beijing on March 13.

Wu said the recent sessions of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee had particular significance as they took place in the last year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and in preparation for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30). The central leadership mentioned scientific innovation multiple times during the two sessions, providing fundamental principles and charting the future course for the Jiusan Society's work, he added.

Wu stressed that studying the guiding principles of the two sessions is a key political task for the Jiusan Society and called on the Society's organizations at all levels to engage in learning, promoting and applying directives made during the two sessions, ensuring that the insights are effectively applied to practical work. He also urged Standing Committee members to play a proactive role in rallying people's support and pooling their strength while working to strengthen confidence and build consensus, so as to transform positive energy from all sectors into concrete development outcomes.

Wu further highlighted that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Jiusan Society. Under the new historical conditions, he emphasized the need to integrate anniversary celebrations with efforts to strengthen the organization, leveraging the Society's specialized expertise to fulfill its advisory role, and contributing recommendations and pragmatic solutions  to deepening reforms, promoting high-quality development, and formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan.
