The General Office of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its first-quarter theoretical seminar of 2025 in Beijing on March 11. 

The seminar focused on studying and implementing the guiding principles of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on  united front work in the new era. 

Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee and president of the China Institute of Theory on the CPPCC, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. 

Wang said the central leadership's thoughts provide in-depth answers to a series of major theoretical and practical questions such as why and what kind of united front work is needed in the new era and how to do the job well, serving as a fundamental principle for united front work in the new era, and holding significance for the CPPCC's work. He called for the building of a thorough understanding of the essence, connotations, and requirements for application of the thoughts to equip CPPCC members intellectually, guide their practice, and advance their work. 

He stressed that, as China's most extensive patriotic united front organization, the CPPCC must ensure the effective integration of the CPC leadership, the united front and consultative democracy, and fully tap the mechanism that leverages the united front's role in fostering unity and pooling strength. The CPPCC platforms for united front work need to be refined, and its unique role should be enhanced within the overall framework of the Party’s united front strategy, so as to unite hearts, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strengths for Chinese modernization, he added. 

Wang also called for an integrated approach to study the central leadership’s instructions on united front and CPPCC work, and the guiding principles of the latest sessions of the 14th National People's Congress and the 14th CPPCC National Committee, urging in-depth reflection and research on key issues. He emphasized the need for continuous theoretical exploration to deepen understanding, and drive innovation in theory, practice, and institutional frameworks for the CPPCC's united front work.
