The Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its second plenary meeting in Beijing on March 10. The meeting also served as a group study session on the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and its second and third plenary sessions, and of the just-concluded sessions of the National People's Congress and the CPPCC National Committee.
CPPCC National Committee vice-chairmen Zhou Qiang and He Baoxiang addressed the meeting.
Five CPPCC National Committee members delivered speeches on implementing the guiding principles of the two sessions, which they all agreed have injected strong confidence and strength into the endeavor of the Party and the country, and provided scientific guidance for current and future work.
The meeting recognized the achievements of the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs in 2024, noting its targeted efforts in advancing the law-based governance, social governance, and public welfare contributed significantly to the overall work of the Party and the country.
The meeting called for continuous efforts in consolidating the shared theoretical and political foundation for unity and progress, focusing on rallying people's support, building consensus and pooling their strength and wisdom. The unique role of the CPPCC should be upheld by adopting democratic, united, consultative and inclusive approaches, and fully leveraging the diverse expertise of CPPCC members. The work of the special committee should align with national priorities and contribute to the high-quality development and Chinese modernization, the meeting noted.
Xu Lingyi, director of the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs, gave a report on the committee's work in 2024 and the work plan for 2025.
