CPPCC’s China-Africa Friendship Group meets in Beijing

The second plenary session of the China-Africa Friendship Group of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held in Beijing on Jan 24. The purpose of the meeting was to study and implement the guiding principles of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), review the group's work in 2024 and adopt plans for 2025. 

Mu Hong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and head of the China-Africa Friendship Group, addressed the meeting. 

Those at the meeting acknowledged the group's efforts in 2024 in serving China's overall diplomatic work, and facilitating China-Africa exchanges and cooperation, as well as the CPPCC's international exchanges. The group upheld fundamental principles and broke new ground, fulfilling its responsibilities and making positive contributions to the development of friendly relationship between China and Africa, the meeting heard. 

In 2025, the group will continue to adhere to the nature and position of the CPPCC, focus on the central tasks of the Communist Party of China and the nation, and serve the overall interests of the country, the meeting heard. It will engage in exchanges with African countries, tell stories about China's people-centered democracy, offer suggestions on key issues concerning China-Africa cooperation, and strive to build consensus. Efforts will be made to implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, contributing to the building of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era and high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, according to the meeting.
