The Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its fourth plenary meeting in Beijing on Jan 15. The meeting reviewed the committee's work in 2024 and outlined plans for 2025. CPPCC National Committee Vice-Chairman Bater addressed the meeting.
The meeting acknowledged the committee's work in 2024 in upholding the overall leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), conducting Party discipline education campaigns, and fulfilling its responsibilities by aligning closely with Party and national priorities. It advanced high-quality development of the CPC's work on ethnic and religious affairs in the new era and achieved notable progress in various tasks, the meeting noted.
The meeting stressed that, in 2025, the committee will fully implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the second and third plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, uphold the effective integration of the Party leadership, the united front and consultative democracy, and stay focused on pursuing the central task of economic development and serving the overall national interests. The committee will also play a foundational role in forging a sense of community for the Chinese nation and advancing the development of religions in the Chinese context, in a bid to pool wisdom and strength for achieving Chinese modernization through fostering ethnic unity.
