The Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its fourth plenary meeting in Beijing on Jan 9.
The meeting studied and implemented the guiding principles of the Central Economic Work Conference and the fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. It also reviewed the work in 2024 of the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese, and discussed its key tasks for 2025.
CPPCC National Committee vice-chairpersons Ho Hau Wah, Leung Chun-ying, Su Hui, and Xian Hui delivered speeches to the meeting, either in person or via video link.
The meeting acknowledged the committee’s efforts in 2024 in implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the second and third plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, as well as the Special Committee Work Conference of the CPPCC National Committee. It also highlighted the committee’s achievements in participating in State affairs deliberations and consultations, offering suggestions and strengthening unity and friendship by strengthening ideological and political guidance, enhancing self-development, maximizing the role of CPPCC members, and focusing on the CPC Central Committee’s major policies for work related to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese affairs.
The meeting concluded that, in 2025, the committee will strive to unite and guide its members and those from related CPPCC participating groups to provide advice on advancing Chinese modernization, and gather strength for building a great country and rejuvenating the nation. Further efforts will also be made to bolster unity and friendship, and pool wisdom and strength to ensure the whole nation is united with shared beliefs and goals for the future.
