A team from the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee visited Tianjin to survey work on enhancing public fitness services from Jan 6 to 8.
The team visited sports service enterprises, community fitness venues, sports museums, sports colleges, sports centers and a sports town to gain a comprehensive understanding of local progress in improving the public fitness service system. They also held a special meeting with representatives of related units to gain an understanding of their work.
The team noted that, since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, significant achievements have been made in the development of public fitness, with the public fitness service system taking shape. Fitness facilities have been significantly improved, mass sports events are flourishing, and public participation in fitness activities continues to rise.
The team emphasized the importance of ensuring the implementation of the national fitness strategy. They urged efforts to optimize fitness venues, facilities and teams, and enhance platform mechanism and investment support, so as to boost vitality of the sector. They also highlighted the need to gather collective wisdom to integrate fitness and public health, focus more on the comprehensive efficiency of public fitness services, and adapt to new demands in service provision, in a bid to build a higher-level public fitness service system.
The team also carried out a science popularization activity at Tianjin University of Sport and visited a CPC war memorial hall.
